Collaboration with Japanese Furniture Makers Hida Sangyo

One of the most rewarding things about designing and making textiles is seeing them to life in different projects. Our collaboration with heritage Japanese furniture makers Hida Sangyo and OutofStock, Hong Kong uses our Kawaii Collection woven jacquard fabric upholstery on Hida Sangyo's beautifully made chairs and sofas. A very apt collaboration marrying our Japanese inspired textiles with Japanese craftsmanship. We just love the results!

Japanese Inspired Textiles, Japanese Made Furniture

Hida’s ‘Awase’ sofa and chair were upholstered in the Festival and Crane jacquard fabrics from our Woven Kawaii collection. The pieces are so beautiful, with simple, classic silhouettes and impeccable craftsmanship. We wouldn’t expect anything less. Hida Sangyo have been making wooden furniture since 1920.

The soft blue colour of our Woven Festival jacquard complements the wooden frame so well, don’t you think? The Festival pattern celebrates parades and processions and traditional Japanese textile motifs, making it a piece that truly tells a story.

Our Crane fabric is inspired by the Japanese belief that a string of 1000 origami cranes will bring good luck.

The collaboration was brought together by OutofStock, a Hong Kong based retailer and interior design studio. The collaboration was designed to commemorate OutofStock’s 10th annivesary and we made a limited number of pieces. Each piece comes with an engraved metal plate, detailing the production year and edition number.
